Vaudeville era images taken during 1910-30 in Kansas City by Orval Hixon, are showcased  as a tribute to one of photography’s major contributors of amazing theatrical portraits.  His creative images of famous stars of dance, silent film, talkies, vaudeville and theater captured the essence of an exciting and sensuous time.

Patrons to his Main Street Studio & Baltimore Hotel Hixon Studio in KC included Al Jolson, Theda Bara, Baby Rose Marie, Ruth St Dennis, Eddie Rickenbacker, Joan Crawford, Evelyn Nesbit Thaw, and Eddie Cantor. New sepia toned Giclee prints made from his vintage 11X14 glass negatives are available in various sizes.

100’s of vintage cameras from $2 to $6,000 are offered for sale and add to the visual ambiance of the gallery space. Mort Reeber, "The Camera Man", is a virtual encyclopedia of camera information and is ready to help answer your questions. Mort sells from his Classic Camera Collection accumulated from 67 years of collecting. Free informal appraisals of your cameras can be obtained by contacting Mort.

Prices on the Orval Hixon Collection range from $19 to $300. These prices are 50-70% off previous Hixon KC gallery prices. Vintage Sheet Music, Old Records, Photographic Antiques, Movie Magazines and Curiosities round out the Sundance Experience. Also, check out the permanent Hixon Gallery in the KC Public Library (10th & Main).
