Vaudeville era images taken during 1910-30 in Kansas City by Orval Hixon, are showcased as a tribute to one of photography’s major contributors of amazing theatrical portraits. His creative images of famous stars of dance, silent film, talkies, vaudeville and theater captured the essence of an exciting and sensuous time.
Patrons to his Main Street Studio & Baltimore Hotel Hixon Studio in KC included Al Jolson, Theda Bara, Baby Rose Marie, Ruth St Dennis, Eddie Rickenbacker, Joan Crawford, Evelyn Nesbit Thaw, and Eddie Cantor. New sepia toned Giclee prints made from his vintage 11X14 glass negatives are available in various sizes.
100’s of vintage cameras from $2 to $6,000 are offered for sale and add to the visual ambiance of the gallery space.
